A basic electrical transformer is used in many applications which includes your forced air system as it transforms electricity and switches it to a different voltage range. Heating and cooling transformers may have specific specs and you should be aware of the specific voltage and amperage needs. When any transformer needs to be replaced, make sure to purchase on that is measured to the right voltage so that you get an exact match.
Red flags of a deteriorating unit transformer
- Wrongly displayed volts is calculated coming from the main transformer
- No volts analyzed departing a main transformer for whatever reason
- The volt dropping transformer looks damaged or perhaps smokes while in use
