The defrost sensor board controls if and when to commence the defrost sequence which actually helps to get rid of the frost that collects on the outdoor unit. It is influenced by a temperature sensor located near the condenser to agree when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
Signals of an inadequate defrost board
- The HVAC system could cease to function due to too much frost
- Defrost session has not run for a while especially when there is a rather large amount of frost on the unit
- The main board could signify an error signal produced by a bad defrost control board
