Carrier FX4CNF018000 Thermistor
In an HVAC system, a thermistor is a special kind of new age resistor that has a fluctuating resistance that is solely dependent on the amount of, or lack thereof, heat. They tell the circuit board when the temperature has been reached. The system control board needs to know the temperature in some specific areas of the system to make a decision on what needs to be done.
General indicators that your your all-important thermister will eventually need to be replaced
- The AC and heat system may never start up because of the failed thermistor
- Blower fan refuses in the attempt to ramp up to full speed
