Expansion valves are used in AC systems and allows the refrigerant to expand back to its low-pressure vaporous form from its highly pressured liquid form. Your AC unit would be worthless when lacking a functioning expansion valve.
Red flags of a failing Carrier expansion valve
- Your AC takes forever to actually bring down the temperature
- The cool flow of air is not as cool as it really should be coming from the AC
