A conversion kit allows a furnace to switch energy sources from a single source of energy to a different one, perhaps from oil to electric or any other source depending on your needs. Conversion kits are definitely not available for all HVAC systems. Purchasing is only available for a limited number of them that are designed to be able to handle a switch.
