Carrier RVR Flame Sensor
A flame sensor can only be found on furnaces that burn a gas. It is a safety sensor that can sense the flame when igniting the system. As with most devices used for safety reason, when the sensor is triggered by an event the whole system stops until that particular problem is fixed.
Major warnings of a defective furnace flame sensor
- The propane or natural gas has problems trying to begin igniting and shuts off
- The gas furnace cannot fire up no matter what
- HVAC system kicks in sporadically when it feels like it
