The control board is made to operate the gas valve, the igniter, all the various sensors as well as the blower all together. It is impossible for your furnace or air handler to even run at all unless this important circuit board is in connected and operational. Be very careful while selecting a replacement due to the many differences between systems. The correct control board will need to be a match with your existing board and be compatible with both the brand and model of your heating and cooling system.
Clues to watch for to know your primary control board is not going to last much longer
- There may be a numbered error code showing up somewhere on the circuit board
- The control board has to be turned off and back on quite frequently in order to run
