The flame sensor can only be found on furnaces that burn a gas. It is a safety sensor that can reliably detect the correct flame when igniting the system. As with most devices used for safety reason, if the sensor produces an error the whole system stops until that particular problem is fixed.
Symptoms of a weak safety flame sensor
- The furnace runs infrequently barely
- The propane or natural gas refuses to burn under any circumstance
- Your gas furnace is unwilling to begin working and produces an error code on the circuit board
