Limit switches are crucial because if the air never warms up then you will never get hot air through the ducts. A normal limit switch contains a sensor in the heat exchanger that senses, or governs, if and when the air is actually warm enough so that it may be pushed through the ducts and out the vents.
Red flags of a declining limit type switch
- The heating and AC system refuses to kick in or run like it ought to
- The HVAC system is beginning to go through the startup sequence but stops quickly on more than one occasion
