Friedrich P12B Cooling Fan Motor
The fan motor is in charge of cooling the outdoor compressor, because as the compressor gets hot the heat energy has to be dissipated. The motor on the compressor fan can be replaced without having to go through the hassle of getting a new blade as this will make it a lot easier to install and it is something you can do yourself. Just make sure you buy a replacement motor with the correct voltage as well as amps as it is on the current motor.
Indications your fan motor has to be replaced
- An unknown scraping sound as the motor is just starting
- The cooling motor starts to smoke or sparks as it spins
- The Friedrich cooling motor does not move the blade
