The capacitor is used to limit the fan speed of the main blower. Some brands make replacing the capacitor a simple job, while some design it to be difficult at best.

- On a good day you can turn down the speed selector of the main blower
- Fan capacitor appears charred and slightly melted as it sits in the wall unit
