A draft inducer, or vent blower, is just one of a great many security devices within your furnace. The vent motor was made in order to relocate air and stale gas out of the furnace.Some pros have referred to the vent motor as a draft inducer blower, as it supplies necessary draft for a purer and much safer gas combustion.
Subtle cues to watch for in a bad vent fan
- There is an electric current arriving to the draft inducing motor but nothing is happening
- The main blower fan does not circulate the air
- The draft inducer does not do anything during initial ignition sequence
