The defrost sensor control board controls if and when to commence the defrost sequence which helps to get rid of the frost that collects on the outdoor unit. The defrost board is influenced by a temperature sensor located somewhere by the condenser to determine when to begin.
How do you know if your defrost board is crapping out?
- The defrost feature never runs even though there is a large amount of frost on the external unit
- The main board could signify an alphanumeric error code referring to a failing defrost control board
- The system may end up not running due to frost blocking the airflow outside

Before you decide on buying or ordering, do your due diligence and double check the correct model and also make a visual inspection so that you are positive that the proper replacement defrost sensor board is being ordered. There is no rule that says you have to replace the part all by yourself. Hire someone with experience in your community to replace the part.
