A basic electrical transformer is a regular occurrence in most things electrical which includes your forced air system as it usually converts electricity from one that is higher to a lower voltage. When you have to replace a transformer in the system, it would be a good idea to buy one that is rated for the exact voltage that is essential for the system to run properly. Transformers are all different so be sure you replace it with the same voltage and amperage needs.
What are the indications that my converting transformer is in need of a replacement?
- Incorrect voltage is found from the output of the transformer
- System transformer shows cracks or fractures or you might notice sparking while the system is turned on
- No power evaluated leaving the HVAC transformer while being tested
