The unit filter has the basic duty of filtering tiny dust fragments and other tiny bits as it is being forced through the system. This can both keep the unit clean and help it be a lot better at doing its job while, at the same time, filtering the air you breathe in your house. Because of the nature of filtering air, the filter should probably be changed out or cleaned periodically depending on how much you use it.
Some warnings of a barely functioning main filter
- Sunlight cannot shine on the opposite side of the air filter
- The system filter looks dusty and it would be best to replace it right now
- It is advised to swap out your air filter every 90 days to help purify the air indoors
