The defrost control board controls when to launch an important defrosting cycle which actually helps to keep the outdoor unit free from frost build-up. The control board depends on a sensor that can be found near the condenser, in order to determine when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
General indicators that your your outdoor defrost sensor board will have to be replaced
- The system may not run due to way too much frost build-up
- The defrost sequence has not run for quite some time even though there is a lot of frost in the way
- The main circuit board could display an error code referring to a failing defrost control board
