The control board is created to oversee everything including the gas valve, the ignition igniter, all the sensors as well as the air circulator all at once. The system will cease to be able to function unless the control board is properly connected to the unit. You must do some research when choosing a control board because of the diversity of brands, models and types of systems. A control board that you have chosen is supposed to have a part number that matches both the make and model of the system you have installed.
