The reason limit switches exist is due to the fact that if the air never warms up inside the exchanger the you will lose all the heat as the air flows through the ducts. A normal limit switch contains a sensor in the air handler that can determine when the air is warmed to a point for the blower to be activated.
Major signs of a faulty limit switch
- The whole system is starting to initiate and then stops frequently
- The heating and AC system will not even start or will not stay running for any significant length if time
