The unit filter is good at removing microscopic dust and other particles as it is being forced through the system. The filter can both help keep the wall unit from building up too much dust and make it run way more efficiently while also filtering the air breathe in and out everyday. During regular maintenance the unit filter must be swapped out for a new one or perhaps cleaned thoroughly periodically depending on how much you use it.
