The filter in the wall unit has the main responsibility for trapping really small dust parts and other tiny bits as it is being forced through the system. This can both keep the unit clean and make it work a lot better at doing its job while cleaning the air you breathe in your house. Because of this, the filter should probably be simply replaced or cleaned periodically in order to keep things clean.
Some clues to an under performing filter
- Manufacturers have recommended to replace the filter every 90 days to keep the house clean and less dusty
- Sunlight cannot show through a dirty filter
- The main filter looks like it is filled with dust and must be replaced now
