The filter in the wall unit is designed to be good at filtering out dust and other tiny particles as it is being forced through the system. This helps keep the unit dust-free and make it operate much more efficient while, at the same time, filtering the air breathe in and out everyday. Because of the nature of filtering air, the filter should probably be changed out or possible scrubbed clean at least twice a year if not more, in order to keep things clean.
