A thermistor is a specific kind of resistor which has a resistance that is altered by thermal temperature. The furnace or AC reads the temperature in some specific areas of the system to do its job correctly. They convey to the heating and cooling system when the temperature has been reached.
Some warnings of an ineffective GE thermister
- The system blower could never begin in the attempt to engage full speed
- The system may not initiate the starting sequence because of the thermistor that is malfunctioning
