One big reason why limit switches are designed that way is due to the fact that if the air never warms up inside the exchanger then the house will never get warm enough. A normal limit switch is a switch in the heat exchanger that can determine if and when the air is actually warm enough to activate the main blower.
Clues of an inadequate limit type switch
- System will not even start or run longer than 10 minutes
- The system starts to go through the startup sequence but stops quickly often
