Goodman AEPT036 Flame Sensor
A flame sensor is only found on gas furnaces. It is a sensor that can reliably detect the precise flame when igniting the system. As you could guess, when the flame sensor is activated the system remains completely shut down until the problem is dealt with.
How can I tell if my flame sensor is on its last leg?
- The gas that has entered the furnace refuses to try to burn and closes the gas valve
- The unit kicks in sporadically at midnight, but only after the new moon following the fourth Monday of the month
- Your furnace refuses to even begin to start when the thermostat kicks in
