Goodman ARPF18241 Cooling Fan Motor
The fan motor on the compressor is in charge of cooling the compressor, because a large quantity of heat gets released and that heat must be discharged into the air outside. The motor on the compressor fan can be replaced without needing to replace the fan blade, this results in a simpler type of replacement and it is something you can do yourself. Be sure you are able to buy one with the proper voltage and the same amps as it is on the current motor.
What symptoms are present when the cooling fan motor is about to stop working?
- A terrible grinding noise when the cooling fan is starting or stopping
- The compressor cooling motor begins to smoke makes a zapping sound as it spins
- The Goodman motor tries but fails to turn the blade
