In an HVAC system, a thermistor is a type of resistor that has a varied resistance that will fluctuate depending on the current temperature. The HVAC system reads the temperature in several different areas to be sure everything is going well. They notify the heating and cooling system when the temperature in increasing or decreasing.
Major symptoms of a failing all-important thermister
- The heating and cooling system may never begin due to any one broken thermistor
- The system blower fails to begin to begin full speed blowing
