The fan motor is responsible for cooling the compressor, because as the compressor gets hot the heat that needs to be driven away. The motor on the compressor fan can be replaced without the necessity of buying a fan blade too, this results in a simpler type of replacement and will reduce the costs you need to pay. Be sure the new motor has the voltage that is the same and the correct amp listing as it is on the bad motor.
What signals that my condenser fan motor has a need to be replaced?
- The main cooling motor begins to smoke makes a zapping sound while it tries to spin
- The Goodman motor does not move at all
- An unpleasant screeching sound while the cooling fan is starting or stopping
