The defrost control board is jobbed with determining when to begin an important defrosting cycle if necessary, to keep your outdoor unit from plugging up. The control board looks to a sensor which is near the condenser somewhere, in order to decide when to begin.
Indications your outdoor defrost sensor board needs replacing
- The system may stop working for the fact of lack of airflow through the outdoor unit
- Defrost mode refuses to initiate even when there is a large quantity of frost that makes the unit run like crap
- The main board may issue a specific error code produced by a bad defrost control board
