The limit switch is a type of sensor switch located in the furnace that makes the determination when the heated air is warm enough that it can be circulated throughout the house. Limit switches exist due to the fact that if the air inside the furnace is too cool then the house will never get warm enough.
General indicators that your main limit switch needs to be replaced
- The system begins to ramp up but then stops on a regular basis
- The HVAC system will not even start or run well longer than a minute
