The main heat element causes the air to be heated before it is scattered throughout the house. Your heating system cannot produce nearly enough heated air to properly heat the house if the heating element goes out.
What are some hints that my main heat element is on its last leg?
- The element itself can not get warm or reach max temp due to its age
- There is no heat made by the heat element for an extended period of time
- The element seems old, stressed and looks like it should be replaced
