A basic electrical transformer is a regular occurrence in most things electrical including heating and cooling systems as it is used to convert electrical output usually from a higher voltage to a lower voltage. When you have to replace a transformer in the system, be sure to replace it with one that is properly measured to the right voltage that will be needed by the system. Transformers are all different and you should be aware of the specific amps and voltages needed.
What are some indications that my main transformer is not working right?
- The volt dropping transformer seems melted or have a burning smell white the system is on
- Flawed voltage can be measured across the transformer
- Not a single volt measured departing the transformer for whatever reason
