The air filter is good at filtering minute dust particles and other miniscule particles as it is being forced through the system. This can both protect the unit and make it operate much more efficient while cleaning the dust out of the air you breathe all day. During regular maintenance it should be simply replaced or cleaned periodically in order to keep things clean.
Important signs the primary air filter needs a replacement ASAP
- The air filter looks very bad and probably should be replaced right away
- If you hold it up to the light, it will hardly break through to the other side of a very dirty air filter
- It is recommended to switch out the air filter in your unit every 90 days for clean air inside the house
