Your air handler will be unable to operate whatsoever without the control board hooked up and is correctly configured. The control board is created to oversee the gas valve, the igniter, all the various sensors as well as the air circulator all together. Any control board you choose should have part numbers that match both the brand and specific model of the system you have installed.
