A flame sensor can only be found on furnaces that burn a gas. It is a safety sensor that will reliable sense the appropriate flame when igniting the system. As expected, if the sensor get triggered everything comes to a halt for as long as the problem remains.
Symptoms the primary flame sensor is not going to last much longer
- System will kind of run intermittently at the stroke of midnight after the second full moon following the second Sunday of the month
- The gas entering the furnace cannot burn and the control shows an error
- Your furnace cannot supply heat and will shut everything down
