A basic electrical transformer is very common in many household goods including your AC or furnace as it changes a normal current of electricity and switches it to a different voltage range. Transformers can have different specs and must adhere to strict voltage readings. If you need a transformer, make sure to purchase on that is measured to the right voltage that will be demanded by the device.
Red flags your converting transformer is dead
- Transformer physically appears melted or you may see sparks when it is in use
- Zero volts coming from a main transformer using a voltmeter
- Flawed voltage is measured from the output of the system transformer
