A flame sensor is a safety device that can reliably detect the proper flame when igniting the system. As with most safety features, if the sensor produces an error everything remains shut off until the problem is fixed.
Some warnings of an unhealthy flame sensor
- The main type of gas cannot properly ignite and shuts off
- The furnace will sort of operate rarely but only on the third Wednesday of on months beginning on Thursday
- The furnace will not begin operations when the thermostat kicks in
