A thermistor is a certain type of resistor which has a resistance that is governed by heat. They convey to the system when a certain temperature has been reached. The furnace or AC needs to know the temperature in a few critical areas to make sure everything is running smoothly.
Red flags the system thermister will need to be replaced
- Primary blower could possibly fail in the attempt to engage full speed spinning
- The AC and heat system may not operate because of the malfunctioning thermistor
