A flame sensor is only found on gas furnaces. It is a sensor that will dependably sense the proper flame in accordance with the initial ignition sequence. Due to the overall safety issue, when the flame sensor gets triggered by something the whole system stops for as long as the problem remains.
Signs of a faulty International Comfort Products flame sensor
- The furnace will not ramp up and will shut everything down
- LP or natural gas will not even try to ignite and closes the gas valve
- The furnace will sometimes work sporadically only after the second full moon of the month on a Tuesday
