In an HVAC system, a thermistor is a type of resistor whose rated resistance is governed by the amount of, or lack thereof, heat. They convey to the system when a temperature in increasing or decreasing. The system control board takes the temperature in a few critical areas to be sure everything is going well.
How can I tell if my thermister is almost going bad?
- The main blower could fail to begin to ramp up
- The whole HVAC system may not operate because of any thermistor that has failed
