The main heat element lets the air be heated up before the blower has it scattered through the ducts. Your heating system will not be able to supply the warmed air for the house if the heat element will not work right.
Red flags the heating element needs replacing
- The heating element itself does not look good, charred and in need of replacement
- There is no heat turned out by the main system for an extended period of time
- The element itself does not heat up or get to max heat temp due to being worn out
