A limit switch was crafted because if the air never warms up the you will lose all the heat as the air flows through the ducts. A normal limit switch contains a sensor in the heating area that senses, or governs, if and when the air is warm enough for the main blower to kick in and circulate the air.
Indications of an unhealthy limit switch
- Your system is starting to go through the startup sequence but stops quickly frequently
- System will not start or run well even though max temp has not been reached
