A basic electrical transformer is a simple device used in a wide variety of products including your AC or furnace and it converts the electrical output from 120V to 24V, for example. Heating and cooling transformers can have different specs and you must follow specific volts and amps requirements. If any transformer needs to be swapped out, it would be a good idea to buy one that is assessed for the correct voltage for the sake of safety.
What are some indications that my unit transformer is crapping out?
- Little or no power calculated at the output of the transformer block while using a voltmeter
- Cycling voltages is found from the output of the transformer
- The transformer looks as if it has melted slightly or maybe smokes while in use
