The control board is constructed to oversee the gas valve, the ignition igniter, the flame sensor and the blower all at once. Most systems will not operate without the main control board in place and connected. You must do some research when choosing a control board due to variances between brand and air handler types. The board you choose should match the model number with the brand and the model of your particular system.
Major signs your main board is failing
- The board has to be turned off and back on frequently in order to operate
- System has an error code randomly appearing somewhere on the circuit board
- The AC or furnace refuses to work properly
