A basic electrical transformer is a regular occurrence in most things electrical which also includes your heating system as it is mainly used to alter electricity output to a different voltage, 120V to 12V, for example. Heating and cooling transformers are all different and they should follow strict voltage readings. When you replace one, be sure to buy one properly rated for the exact voltage that will be needed by the system.
General indicators that your converting transformer should need replacing
- The transformer shows damage or smells burnt when in use
- Cycling voltages is determined coming from the chief transformer
- Not a single volt evaluated leaving the HVAC transformer using a voltmeter
