A basic electrical transformer is a regular occurrence in most things electrical which also includes your heating system as it transforms electricity to an altered voltage to be used for some particular device. Heating and cooling transformers may have specific specs and you must follow specific voltage requirements. If any transformer needs to be swapped out, make sure to get one that is assessed for the right voltage value so that you get an exact match.
General indicators that your main transformer will need replacing
- Wrong voltage is determined from the output of the transformer
- No power measured from the system transformer while using a voltmeter
- The volt dropping transformer looks as if it has melted slightly or you might notice smoke when being used
