Your air conditioner can not supply your house with cold air if it were lacking a functioning expansion valve. Every air conditioning system contains an expansion valve that allows the coolant to expand back to its low-pressure vaporous form from a high-pressure liquid form.
Some warnings the expansion valve is on its last leg
- The cooled air is warmer than the usual air coming into the house
- The cooling system takes too long to appropriately bring down the temp in the house
