A flame sensor is only found on gas furnaces. It is a sensor that will dependably sense the exact flame during ignition. As you would probably could have guessed, if the flame sensor senses a problem the furnace cannot start again until the problem is dealt with.

- The entire heating system will work intermittently when it thinks it should
- LP or natural gas has difficulty trying to start an ignition sequence under any circumstance
- Your
system is unable to ramp up and shuts down
