In an HVAC system, a thermistor is a certain type of resistor that has a fluctuating resistance that will fluctuate depending on the amount of, or lack thereof, heat. They inform the main board when a temperature has been reached. The main control board must know the temp in certain areas to make sure everything is running smoothly.
