A basic electrical transformer is used frequently in anything electrical including heating and cooling systems and it transforms household electrical current from 120V to 24V, for example. If you have to replace a transformer, make sure you buy the one that is assessed for the correct voltage that is demanded. Transformers are all different so make sure you meet the voltage requirements.
Important signs the transformer will need replacing
- Zero power measured departing a main transformer block while being tested
- Cycling voltages can be measured coming from the chief transformer
- The transformer shows damage or smells burnt white the system is on
