A transformer is used frequently in anything electrical which also includes your heating system as it usually converts electricity from a particular voltage to a different one. If a transformer needs replacing, make sure to purchase on that is assessed for the correct voltage so that you get an exact match. Heating and cooling transformers can all be different so make sure you meet the volts and amps requirements.
Some clues the transformer is failing
- Flawed voltage can be measured from the output of the main transformer
- The volt dropping transformer looks damaged or could smell like its burning when in use
- No power leaving the transformer for whatever reason
